In December of 2009 Penn’s Fels Institute of Government received a grant from the Penn Green Fund to manage a Dormitory Energy Competition on campus in 2010 and 2011.

Now, the second Penn Energy Showdown is underway! It will begin at midnight of November 5th and will plunge the three high rises, Harnwell, Harrison and Rodin, into a two-week battle for energy-saving supremacy. Great prizes and rewards will be bestowed upon the victors, from a pizza party to an iPad.

Beginning November 3rd, be on the lookout for representatives in the high rises with hot beverages and information on how to win. Also, energy conservation pledges will be distributed which, if signed, enter you into the raffle to win an iPad, Wii, or digital camera. Only students who sign pledges and live in the winning high rise are eligible to win.

ABOUT US:

Picture
The format for an energy competition among the high rises was first devised by Penn Graduate students Mateo Rando and Adam Moll. In December of 2009 Penn's Fels Institute of Government received a grant from the Penn Green Fund to manage a Dormitory Energy Competition on campus in 2010 and 2011. In the spring of 2010, with the help of Jonathan Oxman, they organized a modest yet successful energy competition, dubbed the Penn Energy Showdown. The competition was between Rodin and Harrison, and Harrison won with a 6.71% reduction in energy use.

Numerous volunteers are crucial to making the competition a success. If you would like to become a part of the effort, and receive an awesome t-shirt, please sign up on this SCHEDULE, send us an email at energyshowdown@gmail.com or message Penn Energy Showdown on Facebook.
